Human Sensorimotor Control Laboratory, School of Kinesiology, University of Minnesota, USA; Center for Clinical Movement Science, University of Minnesota, USA.

Introduction: Cervical dystonia (CD) is characterized by involuntary neck muscle spasms that lead to abnormal head movements or postures. It is associated with somatosensory (tactile and proprioceptive) dysfunction. Here we tested whether vibro-tactile stimulation (VTS) of the cervical muscles constitutes a non-invasive form of neuromodulation of the somatosensory system that can provide temporary symptom relief for people with CD.

Background: The Needs Assessment Framework (NAF) stimulates awareness of care staff to consider perspectives of clients with intellectual disabilities in decisions on involuntary care. We explored the effect of implementers' participation in a Virtual Community-of-Practice (VCoP) for designing implementation plans, on NAF implementation and staff awareness.

Method: A quasi-experimental design was used to compare implementation and awareness by care staff (n = 54) between organisations that implemented NAF with VCoP participation (N = 4) and organisations that implemented NAF as usual (N = 3).

Chorea can disrupt activities of daily living, pose safety issues, and may lead to social withdrawal. The vesicular monoamine transporter 2 inhibitors tetrabenazine, deutetrabenazine, and valbenazine are approved treatments that can reduce chorea.

Introduction: Body lateropulsion is a postural disorder characterized by involuntary leaning to one side and is a major symptom in individuals with Wallenberg syndrome. Although the hanger reflex has potential applications as a simple stimulus to control posture, there are no reports of its use in body lateropulsion cases. The case report aims to document the immediate effects of a wire hanger worn around the head on the center of foot pressure and gait pattern parameters.
