The aim was to characterize the electrovectorcardiographic pattern of ventricular aneurysms in ischemic cardiopathy by analyzing the cardiac ventricular repolarization. The medical records of 2,670 individuals were analyzed in this cross-sectional study. A test phase included 33 patients who underwent transthoracic echocardiogram with ultrasonic enhancing agent, electrocardiogram, and vectorcardiogram (aneurysm group - = 22, and akinesia group - = 11).

Cardiac memory (CM) is identified as an altered T wave on electrocardiogram and vectorcardiogram that is seen when sinus rhythm resumes after a period of abnormal myocardial activation. Specifically, the sinus rhythm T wave tracks the QRS vector of the abnormal impulse. CM frequently is induced by ventricular pacing or arrhythmias and historically has been considered of minor relevance to medical practice.

Detection and classification of ventricular complexes from a limited number of ECG leads is of considerable importance in critical care or operating room patient monitoring. Beat-to-beat detection allows the heart rhythm evolution to be followed and various types of arrhythmia to be recognized. A quantitative analysis is proposed of pattern recognition parameters for classification of normal QRS complexes and premature ventricular contractions (PVC).

To establish the prevalence and to characterize the types of cardiac involvement in Friedreich's ataxia, 75 consecutive patients (39 male and 36 female), aged 10 to 66 years (mean 24) were prospectively studied. Electrocardiograms were performed in all patients, vectorcardiograms in 34 and echocardiograms in 58. Electrocardiographic and vectorcardiographic abnormalities occurred in 69 (92%) of the 75 patients.

The electrocardiograms of 7 patients with anatomical diagnosis of right ventricular infarction, were studied. Electrocardiographic and vectorcardiographic records of 11 patients surviving the acute stage of myocardial infarction, were also analized. In 10 cases, both ventricles were involved.
