Abolição, 3207-Meireles, CEP: 60165-081, Fortaleza, CE, Brazil.

Sea turtle mortality is often related to materials that reach the coast from different anthropic activities worldwide. This study aimed to investigate whether sea turtle mortality was related to older marine problems, such as solid waste, or one of the largest oil spill accidents on the Brazilian coast, that occurred in 2019. We posed three questions: 1) Are there solid residues in the digestive tract samples, and which typology is the most abundant? 2) Can meso‑ and macro-waste marine pollutants cause mortality? 3) Is the dark material found really oil? A total of 25 gastrointestinal content (GC) samples were obtained, of which 22 ingested waste of anthropogenic origin and 18 were necropsied.

Gastric cancer (GC) is among the most-diagnosed and deadly malignancies worldwide. Deregulation in cellular bioenergetics is a hallmark of cancer. Based on the importance of metabolic reprogramming for the development and cancer progression, inhibitors of cell metabolism have been studied as potential candidates for chemotherapy in oncology.

Gastric cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. To evaluate the anticancer potential and molecular mechanism of biflorin, a prenyl-ortho-naphthoquinone obtained from Capraria biflora L. roots, we used ACP02, a gastric cancer cell line established from a primary diffuse gastric adenocarcinoma.

Vein Suturing Results in Worse Lung Graft Outcomes Compared to the Cuff Method.

March 2020

Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche Mario Negri IRCCS, Bergamo, Italy,

Background: The rat orthotopic lung transplant model is not widely used yet because of the complexity of the procedure, in particular, venous anastomosis. Here, we performed a rat orthotopic lung transplantation using either the suture (ST) or cuff (CT) method for vein anastomosis.

Objectives: To compare the vein ST and CT techniques in terms of operative time, success, recipient survival, and early histological outcomes was the objective of this study.
