The use of operating microscope and rigid telescope in laryngeal surgery represents one of the most exciting advances. Both systems provide good illumination, magnification and relative ease of operation. Microlaryngeal surgery (MLS) with suspension laryngoscope is currently considered the gold standard for surgical approach to the larynx for excision of benign lesions of vocal folds.

Toxicity Profile of IMRT Vs. 3D-CRT in Head and Neck Cancer: A Retrospective Study.

J Clin Diagn Res

September 2016

Postgraduate Resident, Department of Radiotherapy, Gandhi Medical College, Jawaharlal Nehru Cancer Hospital, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India .

Introduction: Role of radiotherapy in comprehensive management of head and neck cancer for achieving tumour control and organ preservation is now well established and radiotherapy is routinely used in adjuvant setting after surgery, concurrently with chemotherapy or targeted agents and for palliation. Development of linear accelerator with Multileaf Collimator (MLC) have revolutionized radiation delivery techniques, allowing conformal and Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) to deliver highly conformal sculpted radiation dose to a very complex structure with improved sparing of adjoining critical structures like salivary glands, spinal cord, eyes, brainstem and larynx amounting to better therapeutic gain.

Aim: This retrospective study was to compare toxicity profile of IMRT with Three Dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy (3D CRT) in head and neck cancer.

A hypothesis-free multiple scan statistic with variable window.

Biom J

April 2008

Institut de Mathématiques de Toulouse, Université Paul Sabatier, 31062 Toulouse Cedex 9, France.

In this article we propose a new technique for identifying clusters in temporal point processes. This relies on the comparision between all the m -order spacings and it is totally independent of any alternative hypothesis. A recursive procedure is introduced and allows to identify multiple clusters independently.
