Sequelae in Permanent Dentition After Traumatic Dental Injury in the Primary Dentition-A Retrospective Cohort Study.

Int J Paediatr Dent

March 2025

Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Clinical Genetics, School of Dentistry, Health Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Background: Luxation injuries to the predecessors can cause sequelae in the permanent successors.

Aim: To describe and analyze sequelae in permanent successors according to the child's age at the time of different luxation traumas (concussion, subluxation, extrusion, lateral luxation, intrusion and avulsion) in the primary dentition compared with matched controls.

Design: A retrospective analysis of 206 patients with 360 potentially damaged permanent teeth (PDPT) and 1057 permanent control teeth was performed.

Background: We present a case of beak trauma not previously been reported in a blue-and-yellow macaw (Ara ararauna) and its successful conservative treatment. Several cases of fractures affecting the mandibular, maxillary and maxillofacial bones and pterygo-palatine dislocations, which have been studied using traditional radiology and CT; however, quadrato-mandibular luxation has never been described, individually or associated with other trauma.

Case Presentation: A 4-year-old blue-and-yellow macaw (Ara ararauna) was referred for a recent head trauma.

Root fractures often occur in immature maxillary permanent central incisors and can be combined with other injuries, making treating more difficult and prognosis uncertain. A 10-year-old girl sustaining a second dental trauma came to our hospital. Teeth 11 and 21 experienced root fracture following the first injury 15 months earlier.

Introduction: Sacroiliac luxation is a common traumatic feline injury, with the small size of the sacral body being a challenge for surgical stabilization. This study compared an innovative computer-guided drilling method with the conventional fluoroscopy-controlled freehand technique. Neuronavigation, using CT-based planning and real-time tracking, was evaluated against the freehand method for accuracy and time efficiency.

Objective: To analyze the factors related to spontaneous re-eruption after intruded injury in permanent anterior teeth in children and adolescents.

Methods: Clinical data from 5- to 17-year-old patients who sustained intrusive luxation of permanent anterior teeth and treated in the Department of Pedia-tric Dentistry of Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology from June 2015 to August 2024 were reviewed. Information of age, gender, degree of intrusion, direction of intrusion, tooth development, concomitant injuries, luxation and post-osteoclastic eruption of the adjacent teeth were recorded.
