In this work, the rare earth element Ce was incorporated into the A-site of SrBaNbO ferroelectric ceramics, which was prepared using the conventional solid state reaction method and sintered under different procedures. A comprehensive investigation was conducted to assess the impact of Ce doping and varying sintering procedures on both the relaxor characteristics and electrical properties of the ceramics. When sintered at 1300 °C for 4 h, the grains exhibited an isometric shape.

Proper management of cattle reproduction has a major impact on the efficiency and profitability of dairy production. Ultrasound examination and transrectal palpation or the pregnancy-associated glycoprotein (PAG) test are currently the most commonly used methods for pregnancy diagnosis. However, alternative methods to those mentioned above are constantly being sought in order to minimise stress during the examination, the cost of veterinary services and to reduce the rate of errors in pregnancy diagnosis.

Clinically, infectious bone defects represent a significant threat, leading to osteonecrosis, severely compromising patient prognosis, and prolonging hospital stays. Thus, there is an urgent need to develop a bone graft substitute that combines broad-spectrum antibacterial efficacy and bone-inductive properties, providing an effective treatment option for infectious bone defects. In this study, the precision of digital light processing (DLP) 3D printing technology was utilized to construct a scaffold, incorporating zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) modified barium titanate (BT) with hydroxyapatite (HA), resulting in a piezoelectric ceramic scaffold designed for the repair of infected bone defects.

Introduction/aims The multichannel intraoesophageal impedance transit (MIIT) is a new clinical concept that is being introduced to measure the oesophageal transit during a 24-hour multichannel impedance-pH (MII-pH) study. Methods MIIT was tested in a case-control study between January 2020 and December 2023. A laboratory test was first conducted to determine the saline baseline impedance (SBI) using MII-pH catheters.

Bacterial infections present a formidable challenge in surgical procedures, and are a major threat to wound healing. Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) is a non-invasive approach for fighting pathogens; however, it is hindered by the efficiency of sonosensitizers and effective antibacterial time. In this study, we developed a biocompatible nanodressing to improve the antibacterial efficacy and accelerate wound healing via SDT.
