Introduction: Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) pose a significant global challenge, resulting in prolonged hospital stays, higher healthcare costs, and increased morbidity and mortality rates. Reusable medical equipment, such as tourniquets, represents a potential vector for infection transmission. Despite frequent use and close contact with patients' skin, infection control protocols often overlook these devices.

Environmental cues sometimes have a direct impact on phage particle stability, as well as bacterial physiology and metabolism, having a profound effect on phage infection outcome. Here, we explore the impact of temperature on the interplay between phage (phiIPLA-RODI) and its host, . Our results show that phiIPLA-RODI is a more effective predator at room (25 °C) compared to body temperature (37 °C) against planktonic cultures of several strains with varying degrees of phage susceptibility.

Ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunting is frequently associated with complications of which shunt-related infections are the most common. However, controversies still exist regarding the underlying factors. This study comparing peri-operative skin preparation agents was aimed at determining which factors among previously documented determinants of shunt infection are implicated in our practice setting.

Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate bacterial proliferation within the internal circuits of anesthesia machines in post-anesthesia care units (PACUs) following the implementation of the new protocol, where 'a single dedicated external circuit is used for each individual patient.' This measure was introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, in alignment with a novel prevention and control strategy.
Methods: Using the observational technique, we analyzed anesthesia machines in PACUs between July and September 2022.
