Background: Endothelial dysfunction and inflammation have been implicated in the pathophysiology of cerebral small vessel disease (SVD). However, whether they are causal, and if so which components of the pathways represent potential treatment targets, remains uncertain.
Methods: Two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) was used to test the association between the circulating abundance of 996 proteins involved in endothelial dysfunction and inflammation and SVD.

Mucopolysaccharidosis type I (MPS I) is an inherited lysosomal storage disorder leading to deleterious brain effects. While animal models suggested that MPS I severely affects white matter (WM), whole-brain diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) analysis was not performed due to MPS-related morphological abnormalities. 3T DTI data from 28 severe (MPS IH, treated with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation-HSCT), 16 attenuated MPS I patients (MPS IA) enrolled under the study protocol NCT01870375, and 27 healthy controls (HC) were analyzed using the free-water correction (FWC) method to resolve macrostructural partial volume effects and unravel differences in DTI metrics accounting for microstructural abnormalities.

Subtotal temporal bone resection (STBR) frequently results in facial paralysis and depression, making reconstruction challenging due to significant tissue loss. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a procedure designed for simultaneous smile and soft tissue reconstruction after STBR. The authors included 3 patients who underwent latissimus dorsi (LD) neuromuscular flap combined with adipose flap transfer after STBR at the Tokyo Medical and Dental University Hospital between 2010 and 2016.

Bilateral trismus associated with oral cancer was commonly occurred in those who had received surgical intervention and radiotherapy. Complete release of bilateral fibrotic tissues followed by free flaps reconstruction was the main current surgical intervention. However, reconstructions of both defects mostly needed to harvest two flaps from different donor sites were time-consuming and increasing morbidities.
