The utility of physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models in support of drug development has been well documented. During the discovery stage, PBPK modeling has increasingly been applied for early risk assessment, prediction of human dose, toxicokinetic dose projection, and early formulation assessment. Previous review articles have proposed model-building and application strategies for PBPK-based first-in-human predictions with comprehensive descriptions of the individual components of PBPK models.

The application of hydrogels to drug delivery limited by the difficulty of encapsulating hydrophobic drugs; therefore, the development of novel composite hydrogels for the delivery of hydrophobic drugs is urgently needed. In this study, terbinafine hydrochloride/hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin inclusion complexes (TFH/HP-β-CD ICs) were added to a Schiff base hydrogel matrix containing octenyl succinic anhydride-modified chitosan (OSA-CS) and sodium alginate (OIA) to prepare a TFH composite hydrogel (TFH GEL). The results revealed that the solubility of TFH in water within TFH/HP-β-CD IC reached 32.

This study comprehensively investigated DHA algal oil emulsions and microcapsules prepared with different egg yolk hydrolysates (DHYP). Dual-enzyme (phospholipase A1 and protease) treatment enhanced emulsion stability by boosting protein adsorption, reducing particle size, and increasing zeta potential. For microcapsules, EF-DUAL, treated with dual-enzymes, had improved solubility, dispersibility, and wall material compactness, effectively protecting DHA from oxidation.

Obtaining high-quality matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI MS) images and the reproducibility of the technique depend strongly on the sample preparation protocol. The most crucial part is the application of the MALDI matrix, which often relies on expensive spraying or sublimation coaters. Polyimide (PI)-based gas separation membranes are of great interest in the field of H purification owing to their good thermal stability, chemical stability, and mechanical properties. Among polyimide-based membranes, intrinsically microporous polyimides are easily soluble in common organic solvents, showing great potential for fabricating hollow fiber gas separation membranes. However, based on the solution-diffusion model, improving the free volume or the movability of polymer chains can improve gas permeability, but would result in poor thermal stability.
