Background: Enumeration of residual DNA repair foci 24 hours or more after exposure to ionizing radiation (IR) is often used to assess the efficiency of DNA double-strand break repair. However, the relationship between the number of residual foci in irradiated cells and the radiation dose is still poorly understood. The aim of this work was to investigate the dose responses for residual DNA repair foci in normal human fibroblasts after X-ray exposure in the absorbed dose range from 0.

Article Synopsis
  • Single-fraction high-dose-rate brachytherapy (SFHDR-BT) for localized prostate cancer has yet to be fully supported by medical evidence, necessitating a thorough evaluation of its long-term safety and effectiveness.
  • A review of multiple studies revealed that SFHDR-BT is generally well tolerated, with low rates of severe gastrointestinal (0%) and genitourinary toxic effects (3%), but with a notable occurrence of grade ≥ 3 sexual dysfunction (4%).
  • Long-term outcomes showed a biological recurrence-free survival (bRFS) rate of 72% and an overall survival (OS) rate of 90%, indicating that while tolerable, the clinical benefits of SFHDR-BT may be suboptimal, highlighting the need for high

The abiotic stress tolerance mechanism in plants is regulated by multiple physiological, biochemical, and molecular processes; hence, omics approaches to underpin these mechanisms are essential. It is clear that transcription factors (TFs) are one of the fundamental molecular switches that play a crucial role in modulating, regulating, and orchestrating plants in response to various climatic vagaries. Several reports are available now, focusing on understanding the roles of TFs, including those in Poaceae family in regulating different biological processes and stress responses.

: The incidence of breast cancer, as well as diabetes mellitus (DM), has continuously increased in recent years. The concurrent study of these diseases is particularly important, as there is a strong correlation between them due to hormonal, biochemical, and environmental factors. Moreover, the underlying metabolic dysfunction in this case could affect the treatment of breast cancer, as well as overall survival.

Objective: To study the reliability and effectiveness of the percutaneous sperm retrieval technique.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the records of 123 consecutive patients with obstructive azoospermia who underwent percutaneous sperm retrieval and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) using Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration (PESA) with or without a rescue Testicular Sperm Aspiration (TESA). We compared patients who had the first sperm retrieval ever and patients who had more than one sperm retrieval performed.
