Chlorhexidine (CHX) is the most commonly used mouthwash with proven antiplaque and antibacterial activity. The aim is to evaluate the effect of vitamin C (VitC) in CHX mouthwash on plaque accumulation and gingivitis, and to compare it with CHX alone mouthwash and antiseptic phenol-containing mouthwashes. Treatment of symptomatic cyclosporine-induced gingival hyperplasia can be challenging, especially if continued use of cyclosporine is necessary for adequate control of the underlying disease. We outline a simplified approach for conservatively managing cyclosporine-induced gingival hyperplasia using azithromycin and chlorhexidine.

Kanıtlar, klorheksidin glukonat (CHG) solüsyonuyla gerçekleştirilen banyonun, sağlık hizmeti ilişkili enfeksiyonlar (SHİE)'a neden olan mikroorganizmaların kolonizasyonunu azalttığını göstermektedir. Bu çalışmada yoğun bakım ünitesi (YBÜ)'nde yatan kanser hastalarında CHG banyosunun MRSA ve VRE kolonizasyonu üzerindeki etkilerinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu çapraz tasarımlı çalışmada, kanser hastalarında standart su + sabun banyosuyla %2'lik CHG banyosu karşılaştırılmıştır.

Background: Omphalitis is a bacterial infection of the umbilicus and/or surrounding tissues, occurring primarily in the neonatal period. Whereas it is known to be a major route of localized and often systemic infection, studies describing incidence and risk factors remain scanty, especially in resource limited settings where the condition is thought to be common. We assessed the incidence and risk factors for omphalitis among neonates born to women who received a birth kit containing chlorhexidine for umbilical cord care after birth in Eastern Uganda.

Background: Topical antiseptics are crucial for preventing infections and reducing transmission of pathogens. However, commonly used antiseptic agents have been reported to cause cross-resistance to other antimicrobials in bacteria, which has not yet been described in yeasts. This study aims to assess the in vitro efficacy of antiseptics against clinical and reference isolates of Candida albicans and Nakaseomyces glabratus, and whether prolonged exposure to antiseptics promotes the development of antifungal (cross)resistance.
