The fluorescent imaging of pathologically accumulated β-amyloid (Aβ) proteins is of significant importance to the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). In the paper, we prepared two new NIR probes, NIR-1 and NIR-2, through hydrophilic modification of introducing water-soluble bioactive groups such as polyethylene glycol (PEG) and morpholine to tune in vivo pharmacokinetics for specific detection of soluble and insoluble Aβ species. The in vitro assessments confirm that both NIR-1 and NIR-2 display strong near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence (FL) enhancement upon association with Aβ42 monomers, oligomers or aggregates (λem > 670 nm) and show high sensitive, rapid and selective response towards Aβ42 species.

Modulating the electronic structure of noble metals via electronic metal-support interaction (EMSI) has been proven effectively for facilitating molecular oxygen activation and catalytic oxidation reactions. Nevertheless, the investigation of the fundamental mechanisms underlying activity enhancement has primarily focused on metal oxides as supports, especially in the catalytic degradation of volatile organic compounds. In this study, a novel Pt catalyst supported on nitrogen-doped carbon encapsulating FeNi alloy, featuring ultrafine Pt nanoparticles, was synthesized.

A novel supramolecular nanodrugs for improving the cognitive function of schizophrenia by protecting active lactone of arecoline.

School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Materia Medica, Xinjiang University, Urumqi 830017, China. Electronic address:

Over 30 % of patients with schizophrenia experience treatment resistance and severe side effects. The limited efficacy of antipsychotic therapies poses a challenge, partly due to the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and the non-selective targeting of these drugs. Herein, we report on arecoline (ARE), a water soluble natural small molecule, which was successfully constructed a phospholipid complex by noncovalent interactions.

Electronic address:

Coal mines generate significant amounts of dust during production, transportation, and stockpiling, leading to health hazards and environmental pollution. To address the inefficiencies and environmental impact of current chemical dust suppressants, a novel dust suppressant was developed utilizing cellulose derived from Napier grass (NG), modified through carboxymethylation, and supplemented with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyacrylamide (PAM). Orthogonal experiments identified the optimal ratio of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), PAM, PVA, and octyl phenol polyoxyethylene ether (JFC-1) as 1:0.

Multifunctional dual-layer wound dressings hold significant promise for comprehensive full-thickness wound management by closely mimicking the native skin structure and features. Herein, we employed an innovative approach utilizing electrospinning techniques to develop a dual-layer dressing comprising a microfibrous Ecoflex®-Vanillin (Ex-Vnil) top layer (TL) and a nanofibrous Soluplus®-Insulin-like growth factor-1 (Sol-IGF1) bottom layer (BL). The tensile properties of dual-layer wound dressings were within the standard range for use in skin tissue regeneration.
