Several studies highlight the identification of some enzymes with additional abilities, especially those involved in metabolic pathways and/or host defence processes, classified as multitasking proteins. In this context, we report the characterization of melleatin (17.5-kDa), a multitasking enzyme isolated from Armillaria mellea fruiting bodies.

Ginseng may improve the myelosuppression and intestinal microbiota disorder induced by cyclophosphamide (CY); however, the effect of ginseng components on hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) damage remains largely unexplored. The present study aimed to assess the protective effect of ginseng extract (GE), total ginsenosides (TG) and total polysaccharides (TP) from ginseng on the intestinal microflora and HSCs of model mice. In the present study, a mouse model of HSC damage induced by CY was constructed, intestinal microflora of fecal samples were sequenced using the 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) sequencing techniques, the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of HSCs were analyzed using high‑throughput RNA‑sequencing, cell apoptosis and erythroid differentiation were detected using flow cytometry and the blood cell parameters were analyzed using a hematology analyzer.

While these established platforms have streamlined the development process to date, their reliance on cell transformation for antibody identification faces limitations related to library diversification and the constraints of host cell physiology. Cell-free systems like ribosome display offer a complementary approach, enabling antibody selection in a completely in vitro setting while harnessing enriched cellular molecular machinery.

The emerging malaria parasite Plasmodium knowlesi threatens the goal of worldwide malaria elimination due to its zoonotic spread in Southeast Asia. After brief ex-vivo culture we used 2D LC/MS/MS to examine the early and late ring stages of infected Macaca mulatta red blood cells harboring P. knowlesi.

Unlabelled: This study aimed to comprehensively analyze inflammatory and autoimmune characteristics of patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) at a steady-state condition (StSt) compared to healthy controls (HCs) to explore the pathogenesis of StSt and its impact on patients' well-being. The study cohort consisted of 40 StSt participants and 23 HCs enrolled between July 2021 and April 2023. StSt participants showed elevated white blood cell (WBC) counts and altered hematological measurements when compared to HCs.
