Drug development for congenital toxoplasmosis is challenging since first-line therapy has a high rate of adverse effects and exhibits suboptimal efficacy. Bumped kinase inhibitors (BKIs), targeting protein kinases with small gatekeeper residues, have been found to be effective against . The efficacy of BKI-1748 administered later than 2 days post-infection (p.

Isopropylated phenyl phosphates (IPP) are an additive organophosphate flame retardant (OPFR) that has been extensively used in furniture, electronics, automobiles, plastics, and children's products to slow down the spread of fire but its continued leaching leads to toxicity concerns. Toxicological information on this important legacy contaminant is limiting. Using zebrafish, our prior whole embryonic RNA-seq data revealed disruption of gene sets enriched for DNA methylation, neurotransmitter synthesis, retinoic acid signaling and eye development.

Background: Early posttransplant cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections in CMV seronegative solid organ transplant recipients (SOTR) with CMV seronegative donors (D-/R-) are often attributed transfusion-transmitted CMV. The prevalence of false-negative donor CMV serology in D-/R- SOTR with early CMV infections has not been explored.

Methods: We determined the frequency and characteristics of CMV DNAemia that occurred within 90 days of transplant among adult SOTR classified as D-/R- who underwent a first SOT at a single center between February 25, 2014 and February 25, 2024.

DNA computing leverages molecular reactions to achieve diverse information processing functions. Recently developed DNA origami registers, which could be integrated with DNA computing circuits, allow signal transmission between these circuits, enabling DNA circuits to perform complex tasks in a sequential manner, thereby enhancing the programming space and compatibility with various biomolecules of DNA computing. However, these registers support only single-write operations, and the signal transfer involves cumbersome and time-consuming register movements, limiting the speed of sequential computing.

The potential risk posed by infectious agents (IAs) associated with netpen aquaculture to wild fishes is determined based on the "release" of IAs from netpens into the environment, the "exposure" of the wild fish to those released agents, and the "consequence" for wild fish experiencing infection by those agents. Information available to characterize these three factors is often lacking, and the occurrence of transmission from aquaculture to wild fish as well as potential consequences of such transmission are difficult to observe. In this study, we utilized environmental DNA (eDNA) to characterize the release of dozens of IAs from, and exposure of Pacific salmon to, Atlantic salmon aquaculture.
