Background: The aim was to evaluate factor XIII activity (FXIIIa) and monocyte-derived microparticles (MDMPs) in cancer patients.
Methods: In total, 138 cancer patients (31 malignant lymphomas, 39 multiple myelomas, and 68 lung cancers) were analyzed. We measured various biomarkers including FXIIIa and MDMPs.

Objective: Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune disease, and it has become evident that T lymphocytes play an important role in the pathogenesis of ITP. We investigated the role of T helper (Th) intracellular IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IFN-γ, and T lymphocyte apoptosis in the pathogenesis of acute ITP and the effect of glucocorticoid treatment on cytokine profile. We investigated also P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and glucocorticoid receptor (GCR) expression as a possible mechanism for glucocorticoid resistance.

Objective: Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is the most common cause of acquired thrombocytopenia children. The aim of this retrospective study is to describe presenting features and clinical characteristics of ITP and evaluate clinical course, treatment modalities, and complications and determine the effects of preceding infection history, age, gender, treatment modality, and admission platelet count on chronicity.
Method: Two hundred and eleven patients who were diagnosed ITP and followed-up in Department of Pediatric Hematology, Ankara Children Hematology Oncology Education and Research Hospital between January 2008 and September 2012 were included.

Exercise and hypoxia paradoxically modulate vascular thrombotic risks. The shedding of procoagulant-rich microparticles from monocytes may accelerate the pathogenesis of atherothrombosis. The present study explores the manner in which normoxic and hypoxic exercise regimens affect procoagulant monocyte-derived microparticle (MDMP) formation and monocyte-promoted thrombin generation (TG).

Background: The presence or absence of the penumbra area is important when performing reperfusion therapy in patients with acute ischemic stroke. As a predictor of this penumbra area, magnetic resonance angiography (MRA)-diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) mismatch is attracting attention. The usefulness of MRA-DWI mismatch (MDM) using the DWI-Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomography Score (ASPECTS) in endovascular treatment (EVT) of patients with cerebral large vessel occlusion was evaluated.
