Cell adhesion and spreading on fluid membranes through microtubules-dependent mechanotransduction.

Nat Commun

January 2025

Institut Curie, Université PSL, Sorbonne Université, CNRS UMR168, Laboratoire Physico-Chimie Curie, 75005, Paris, France.

Integrin clusters facilitate mechanical force transmission (mechanotransduction) and regulate biochemical signaling during cell adhesion. However, most studies have focused on rigid substrates. On fluid substrates like supported lipid bilayers (SLBs), integrin ligands are mobile, and adhesive complexes are traditionally thought unable to anchor for cell spreading.

Nucleolin-targeted silicon-based nanoparticles for enhanced chemo-sonodynamic therapy of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

Int J Pharm

January 2025

Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory of Innovative Drug Target Research, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Xiamen University, Xiamen 361005, China. Electronic address:

The limited selectivity and high systemic toxicity of traditional chemotherapy hinder its efficacy in treating diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The combination of sonodynamic therapy (SDT) with chemotherapy has emerged as a novel strategy for cancer treatment, aiming to improve therapeutic outcomes and reduce systemic toxicity. However, challenges such as elevated drug clearance rates and non-selecitivity remain to be resolved.

Targeting antibodies dissociate from drug delivery liposomes during blood circulation.

J Control Release

January 2025

Biotherapeutic Engineering and Drug Targeting, Department of Health Technology, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark. Electronic address:

Despite three decades of intense research, active targeting of liposomes have not been successfully achieved in a clinical setting. A potential explanation is that the clinically used liposomes lose their targeting abilities upon circulation. Here, we investigated if DSPE-PEG anchored antibody-based targeting ligands dissociate from clinically relevant drug delivery liposomes during circulation in mice.

Enhancement of aerobic sludge granulation by quorum sensing signaling molecules mediated by biomimetic bacterial extracellular vesicles.

J Environ Manage

January 2025

Department of Environmental Engineering, College of Ecology and Environment, Nanjing Forestry University, Nanjing, 210037, China. Electronic address:

The addition of exogenous quorum sensing signaling molecules to the activated sludge system enables rapid sludge granulation. However, signaling molecules exposed to the environment are easily degraded, and their quorum sensing effects cannot be maintained in the long term. Therefore, they must be frequently added, which leads to an increase in operational costs.

Enhancement of oil dispersion and marine oil snow formation by surface-active biomasses from diatom.

Mar Environ Res

January 2025

College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Dalian Maritime University, Dalian 116026, China. Electronic address:

Following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill event, the formation of marine oil snow (MOS) has attracted much attention from marine environmental scientists. This study investigates the crude oil dispersion as well as the MOS formation in the presence of Phaeodactylum tricornutum and Chaetoceros sp. through laboratory experiments.
