Objective: We optimized the spectrophotometric micromethod for the determination of arginase activity based on the Corraliza et al. modification of Schimke's method. Arginase activity in sera from patients suffering from human African trypanosomiasis, in macrophage lysates from trypanosome-infected mice, and in purified bovine liver arginase was compared using the conventional and optimized micromethods.

Objective: To identify the possibility of modification by astaxanthin the level of genome damages induced by gamma quanta in the culture of human peripheral blood lymphocytes exposed in vitro on postsynthetic (G2) phase of the first mitotic cycle.

Materials And Methods: Peripheral blood lymphocytes from four apparently healthy volunteers 35-51 years old were cultivated using modified micromethod. To obtain genomic damages in G2 phase of the first mitotic cycle the part of cultures was irradiated by γ quanta in dose 1.

To examine the state of the biliary system, a study of properties of bile "case-control") 100 children and adolescents aged 8 to 18 years, held checkup in consultative and diagnostic center for chronic gastroduodenitis. BMI children were divided into 2 groups: group 1-60 children with obesity (BMI of 30 to 40) and group 2-40 children with normal anthropometric indices. Survey methods included clinical examination pediatrician, endocrinologist, biochemical parameters (ALT, AST, alkaline phosphatase level, total protein, bilirubin, lipidogram, glucose, insulin, HOMA-index), ultrasound of the abdomen and retroperitoneum, EGD with aspiration of gallbladder bile.

Background: The urinary iodine micromethod (UIMM) is a modification of the conventional method and its performance needs evaluation.

Methods: UIMM performance was evaluated using the method validation and 2008 Iodine Deficiency Disorders survey data obtained from four urinary iodine (UI) laboratories. Method acceptability tests and Sigma quality metrics were determined using total allowable errors (TEas) set by two external quality assurance (EQA) providers.
