Electroencephalographic signals are obtained by amplifying and recording the brain's spontaneous biological potential using electrodes positioned on the scalp. While proven to help find changes in brain activity with a high temporal resolution, such signals are contaminated by non-stationary and frequent artefacts. A plethora of noise reduction techniques have been developed, achieving remarkable performance.

Objective: Sleep-related hypermotor epilepsy (SHE) is a relatively uncommon epilepsy syndrome, characterized by seizures closely related to the sleep cycle. This study aims to explore interictal electroencephalographic (EEG) characteristics in SHE.
Methods: We compared EEG data from 20 patients with SHE, 20 patients with focal epilepsy (FE), and 14 healthy controls, carefully matched for age, sex, education level, epilepsy duration, and drug-resistant epilepsy.
We discuss an interesting case of a 65-year-old man with multiple dissociative episodes which previously had been assessed as fugues. After evaluation in the memory clinic these episodes appeared to be generalized epileptic seizures, with an electro-encephalographic diagnosis of non-convulsive status epilepticus. Throughout this case, the different features that characterize an epileptic versus a psychiatric etiology are being discussed as well as other differential diagnostic considerations.

Background: Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy is an efficacious intervention for patients with prolonged disorders of consciousness (pDOC). Electroencephalographic (EEG) microstate analysis can provide an assessment of the global state of the brain. Currently, the misdiagnosis rate of consciousness-level assessments in patients with pDOC is high.

Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) have diverse effects on physical development and mental health. This study aimed to clarify the relationship between the quantity of ACE exposure, type of ACE exposure, and subjective level of stress felt, correlated with event-related potential activity across the scalp, while controlling for relevant confounding variables. Fifty-three participants aged 18-32 years completed questionnaires assessing their current mental health, self-regulation, childhood socioeconomic status, and history of traumatic events.
