To enhance the electrocatalytic performance of a flexible Pd@CFs catalyst for methanol oxidation, deep cryogenic treatment in liquid nitrogen was introduced. The effects of the frequency and time of the deep cryogenic treatment on the surface crystal orientation, microstructure morphology, mechanical performance, and electrocatalytic performance for methanol oxidation were studied. The results showed that when the frequency of the deep cryogenic treatment was 2 times and the deep cryogenic time was 24 h, the electrocatalytic performance of the catalyst was the best.

This study employs molecular dynamics simulations to unravel the interplay between twin spacing, temperature, and mechanical response in nanotwinned AgPd alloys. For fine-grained systems, a dual strengthening-softening transition emerges as twin spacing decreases, driven by a shift in dislocation behavior from inclined-to-twin-boundary slip to parallel-to-twin-boundary glide. In contrast, coarse-grained configurations exhibit monotonic strengthening with reduced twin spacing, governed by strain localization at grain boundaries and suppressed dislocation activity.

Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) hold large potential in regenerative medicine due to their pluripotency and unlimited self-renewal capacity without the ethical issues of embryonic stem cells. To provide quality-controlled iPSCs for clinical therapies, it is essential to develop safe cryopreservation protocols for long-term storage, preferably amenable to scale-up and automation. We have compared the impact of two different freezing geometries (bottom-up and conventional radial freezing) on the viability and differentiation potential of human iPSCs.

The metazoan tRNA ligase complex (tRNA-LC) has essential roles in tRNA biogenesis and unfolded protein response. Its catalytic subunit RTCB contains a conserved active-site cysteine that is susceptible to metal ion-induced oxidative inactivation. The flavin-containing oxidoreductase PYROXD1 preserves the activity of human tRNA-LC in a NAD(P)H-dependent manner, but its protective mechanism remains elusive.

Polymersomes with surface-integrated nanoparticles, in which a smaller sphere is attached to a larger capsule, are typically formed through complex processes like membrane deformation, polymerization, or membrane functionalization. This complexity restricts facile application of this unusual topology, for example in drug delivery or nanomotor science. Our study introduces a robust method for crafting polymersomes with surface-integrated nanoparticles using a hierarchical phase separation approach.
