As the world recovered from the coronavirus, the emergence of the monkeypox virus signaled a potential new pandemic, highlighting the need for faster and more efficient diagnostic methods. This study introduces a hybrid architecture for automatic monkeypox diagnosis by leveraging a modified grey wolf optimization model for effective feature selection and weighting. Additionally, the system uses an ensemble of classifiers, incorporating confusion based voting scheme to combine salient data features.

Growing epidemiological studies indicate a significant fraction of asthma cases can be attributed to traffic-related air pollution (TRAP). Zero emission vehicle (ZEV) mandates-one of the most forward-looking climate policies in the United States-aim to reduce TRAP by mandating automakers to sell a certain fraction of Electric Vehicles (EVs) annually; however, their public health benefits are largely unknown. We conduct the screening step of the health impact assessment (HIA) of real-world EV sales to estimate the impact of ZEV mandates in reducing childhood asthma.

Dark-field and confocal approaches to circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy of uniaxial thin films examine the relationship between symmetry and incoherence in the nonreciprocal CD response, or the component that is antisymmetric about the light propagation direction. Modifying a conventional CD spectrometer for low-angle scattering detection isolates incoherent contributions to nonreciprocal CD of drop-cast thin films, boasting 5-to-10-fold enhancements in CD dissymmetry parameters. Conversely, confocal detection suppresses the nonreciprocal CD response.

This paper presents an in-pixel contrast enhancement circuit that performs image processing directly within the pixel circuit. The circuit leverages HyperFET, a hybrid device combining a MOSFET and a phase transition material (PTM), to enhance performance. It can be tuned for different modes of operation.

Microbial fuel cell (MFC) technology has received increased interest as a suitable approach for treating wastewater while producing electricity. However, there remains a lack of studies investigating the impact of inoculum type and hydraulic retention time (HRT) on the efficiency of MFCs in treating industrial saline wastewater. The effect of three different inocula (activated sludge from a fish-canning industry and two domestic wastewater treatment plants, WWTPs) on electrochemical and physicochemical parameters and the anodic microbiome of a two-chambered continuous-flow MFC was studied.
