Objective Mucuna pruriens (MP) is a legume whose seeds contain levodopa (LD), which has potential therapeutic effects against Parkinson's disease (PD). However, further research is needed to thoroughly evaluate its efficacy and safety for treating this condition. In this study, we analyzed the pharmacokinetics of MP grown in Japan and investigated its mechanism of action in PD.

In Brief: Mating shuts down the 2-methoxyestradiol (2ME) nongenomic pathway that accelerates oviductal egg transport in the rat. This study shows that sperm cells, but not vaginocervical stimulation, utilize TNF-α to shut down this 2ME nongenomic pathway.
Abstract: The transport of oocytes or embryos throughout the oviduct to the implantation site in the uterus is defined as egg transport.

Background: Esophageal cancer (EC) is the sixth leading cause of cancer-related death, despite many advances in treatment, the survival of patients still remains poor. In recent years, the N6-methyladenosine (m6A) has been introduced as one of the most important modifications at the epitranscriptome level, with an important role in the mRNA regulation in various diseases, such as cancers. The m6A is regulated by different factors, including FTO as a demethylase.

A computational protocol aimed to design new antioxidants with versatile behavior is presented. It is called Computer-Assisted Design of Multifunctional Antioxidants and is based on chemical properties (CADMA-Chem). The desired multi-functionality consists of in different methods of antioxidant protection combined with neuroprotection, although the protocol can also be used to pursue other health benefits.
