The oil film formed by the adhesion of crude oil to the resin-asphalt adsorption layer is difficult to peel off due to the strong oil-solid interaction, which severely limits further improvements in oil recovery. Although conventional compound oil displacement systems can effectively reduce oil-water interfacial tension, facilitate oil droplet deformation, and alleviate the Jamin effect, they are insufficient in controlling the wettability of oleophilic rock surfaces. In this paper, sodium nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether sulfate (NPES) and sodium lauric acid ethanolamine sulfonate (HLDEA) were compounded to construct an efficient oil displacement system that simultaneously achieves wettability control of lipophilic surfaces and ultralow oil-water interfacial tension.

The objective of the present work was to prepare hybrid epoxy composites with improved mechanical and thermal properties. The simultaneous use of two different modifiers in an epoxy resin was motivated by the expected occurrence of synergistic effects on the performance properties of the matrix. Such a hybrid composite can be used in more severe conditions and/or in broader application areas.

Miniaturized inertial sensor based on high-resolution dual atom interferometry.

Rev Sci Instrum

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Magnetic Resonance and Atomic and Molecular Physics, Innovation Academy for Precision Measurement Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan 430071, China.

Atom interferometry shows high sensitivity for inertial measurements in the laboratory, but it faces difficulties in field applications because of a trade-off between sensitivity and size. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop a small sensor with high resolution for measuring acceleration and rotation in inertial navigation applications. Presented here is a miniaturized inertial sensor capable of measuring acceleration and rotation simultaneously based on high-resolution dual atom interferometers.

Green valorization of Chaenomelis Fructus agro-industrial by-products as a source of phenolics: Ultrasound-assisted extraction, adsorptive enrichment and quality control.

Food Chem

January 2025

Centre for Chinese Herbal Medicine Drug Development, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong 999077, PR China; School of Chinese Medicine, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong 999077, PR China. Electronic address:

This study aimed to develop a green and efficient strategy for the recovery of bioactive phenolics from agro-industrial by-products (AIBPs) derived from Chaenomelis Fructus (CF). The peel of Chaenomelis Fructus (CFP) has a higher phenolic content compared to its leaves and seeds. The ultrasound-assisted extraction process for CFP total phenolics (CFPTP) was optimized using response surface methodology, achieving a yield of 216.

Background: Zygomatic implants are becoming an ideal treatment approach for implant-supported prosthesis treatment developed for the atrophic maxilla. This study aims to evaluate the amount and distribution of stress in implants and peri-implant bone using different implant-supported prosthesis configurations in Aramany Class I maxillary defects through 3-dimensional finite element analysis.

Methods: A 3-dimensional finite element model of the Aramany class I defect was created.
