The work was undertaken to assess the antigenic affinity of some Neisseria perflava, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus strains serving as active sensitinogen of the human broncho-pulmonary apparatus. With the aid of the complement fixation test, precipitation after Ouchterolony, and immunoelectrophoresis there was established the presence of a series of similar antigenic determinants common for all the three microbes and for determinant responsible for the cross reactions of two microbes only.

The speciation and mobility of arsenic (As) in waters are largely influenced by the colloids; however, the impacts of colloids with different molecular weights (MWs) in water fractions remain largely unknown. Herein, the surface water was fractionated into three colloidal fractions and truly dissolved fraction via cross-flow ultrafiltration. The bacterial type 6 secretion system (T6SS) is a toxin-injecting nanoweapon that mediates competition in plant- and animal-associated microbial communities. Bacteria can evolve de novo resistance against T6SS attacks, but resistance is far from universal in natural communities, suggesting key features of T6SS weaponry may act to limit its evolution. Here, we combine ecoevolutionary modeling and experimental evolution to examine how toxin type and multiplicity in attackers shape resistance evolution in susceptible competitors.

Background: The persistent neurological symptoms seen in long COVID survivors are attributed to immune system dysfunctions and changes in the microbiome induced by SARS-CoV-2 infection. In addition to the initial respiratory manifestations, a significant portion of COVID-19 patients present with neurodegenerative symptoms. Our hypothesis suggests that disruptions in inflammatory signals and alterations in the gut microbiome post-COVID-19 play pivotal roles in the development of neurodegenerative complications among individuals experiencing prolonged effects of the disease.

Methods: We analyzed the fecal metagenomes of 2,470 SOL-INCA participants to, cross-sectionally, identify microbial taxonomic and functional features associated with cognitive function.
