The present study aimed to evaluate the physiological responses to transport stress in juvenile tambaqui () fed a diet supplemented with hydroxy-selenomethionine (OH-SeMet; Selisseo, Adisseo) and determine through stress biomarkers whether selenium supplementation could reduce the impact of transport stress on tambaqui resilience. Juvenile fish (15.71 ± 1.

Leukocytes detect distant wounds within seconds to minutes, which is essential for effective pathogen defense, tissue healing, and regeneration. Blood vessels must detect distant wounds just as rapidly to initiate local leukocyte extravasation, but the mechanism behind this immediate vascular response remains unclear. Using high-speed imaging of live zebrafish larvae, we investigated how blood vessels achieve rapid wound detection.

Purpose: Diabetic macular edema (DME) is the primary cause of vision impairment in diabetic retinopathy (DR) patients. A previous study has shown the efficacy of montelukast, a cysteinyl leukotriene receptor (CysLTR)1 antagonist, in a diabetic mouse model. This study aims to understand the CysLTR1 signaling in retinal endothelial cells and the impact of montelukast.

Plerixafor, a hematopoietic stem cell mobilization agent, increases the peripheral blood content of effector and regulatory T cells and may have beneficial effects on cardiac allograft vasculopathy. The aim of the current study was to evaluate its effects in a murine aortic allograft model using different application procedures. Allogeneic donor aorta grafts (n = 8/group) from C57BL/6 mice(H2b) were abdominally transplanted into CBA mice (H2k).

The hyaluronan (HA) matrix in the tissue microenvironment is crucial for maintaining homeostasis by regulating inflammatory signalling, endothelial-mesenchymal transition and cell migration. During development, covalent modifications and osmotic swelling of HA create mechanical forces that initiate midgut rotation, vascular patterning and branching morphogenesis. Together with its main cell surface receptor, CD44, HA establishes a physicochemical scaffold at the cell surface that facilitates the interaction and clustering of growth factors and receptors that is required for normal physiology.
