Fluphenazine (FPZ) is a well-known neuroleptic that has attracted considerable scientific interest due to its biocidal, virucidal, and antitumor properties. Although methods for encapsulating and delivering FPZ to enhance its activity and reduce side effects have been developed, there is still limited knowledge about its conjugates with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). Therefore, the aim of this research was to develop a preparation method for stable FPZ-AuNP conjugates and to investigate their physicochemical and biological properties.

Intracellular Delivery of Proteins by Protein-Recognizing Nanoparticles.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

January 2025

Department of Chemistry, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa 50011-3111, United States.

Intracellular delivery of proteins can directly impact dysregulated and dysfunctional proteins and is a key step in the fast growing field of protein therapeutics. The vast majority of protein-delivery systems enter cells through endocytic pathways, but endosomal escape is a difficult and inefficient process, demanding fundamentally different methods of delivery. We report ultrasmall cationic molecularly imprinted nanoparticles that bind protein targets with high specificity through their uniquely distributed surface lysine groups.

Background And Aims: Recently, demands towards identifying various molecules in support of stress detection and potential clinical utilization are dramatically increasing. Moreover, the accuracy with which researchers quantify these informative molecules is now far more improved when compared to the past. As RNA or protein markers are conventionally detected via repeated invasive procedures from blood, it is critical to develop secure technologies to obtain the desired information via less stressful methodologies, such as saliva collection.

Protein concentration and analyzing charge variants in a co-formulation comprising three monoclonal antibodies: A cation-exchange chromatography approach.

Int J Pharm

January 2025

BioDev Drug Product Development Department, WuXi Biologics, 190 Hedan Road, Shanghai 200131, China. Electronic address:

In the realm of therapeutic antibodies, co-formulations comprising two or more monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) have emerged as a promising strategy, offering enhanced treatment efficacy, improved efficiency, and prolonged intellectual property protection. These advantages have sparked significant interest among both patients and pharmaceutical companies. However, the quantification and analysis of individual mAbs within such co-formulations pose a substantial challenge due to their similar physicochemical properties.

Timely identification of highly pathogenic bacteria is crucial for efficient mitigation of the connected harmful health effects. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) of intact cells enables fast identification of the microorganisms based on their mass spectrometry protein fingerprint profiles. However, the MALDI-TOF MS examination must be preceded by a time-demanding cultivation of the native bacteria to isolate representative cell samples to obtain indicative fingerprints.
