Purpose: Reports have highlighted thyroid abnormalities, including subacute thyroiditis and thyrotoxicosis, in COVID-19 patients, with a potential link between thyroid dysfunction and disease severity. However, population-level studies on COVID-19's impact on thyroid hormone levels are limited. We aimed to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on thyroid function tests at the population level.

Herein, we investigated the changes in oral bacterial counts before and after surgery in infants who underwent cardiac surgery, as well as after oral care using an antiseptic mouthwash.
Materials And Methods: A total of 102 infants who underwent congenital heart disease surgery were enrolled in this study.

Background: Accurate and timely assessment of tumor response after chemotherapy is crucial in clinical settings. The aim of this study was to explore the feasibility of Gemstone Spectral Imaging (GSI) for early assessment of chemotherapy responses in patients with colorectal cancer liver metastasis (CRCLM).
Materials And Methods: From October 2012 to October 2018, 46 patients (28 males and 18 females) with CRCLM received GSI followed by chemotherapy were retrospectively reviewed.

Automatic segmentation of angiographic structures can aid in assessing vascular disease. While recent deep learning models promise automation, they lack validation on interventional angiographic data. This study investigates the feasibility of angiographic segmentation using in-context learning with the UniverSeg model, which is a cross-learning segmentation model that lacks inherent angiographic training.

Purpose: We investigated the feasibility and advantages of using non-contrast CT calcium score (CTCS) images to assess pericoronary adipose tissue (PCAT) and its association with major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). PCAT features from coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) have been shown to be associated with cardiovascular risk but are potentially confounded by iodine. If PCAT in CTCS images can be similarly analyzed, it would avoid this issue and enable its inclusion in formal risk assessment from readily available, low-cost CTCS images.
