: Automobiles are vital for older adults to maintain health and independence, yet aging-related declines in physical and cognitive functions may impair driving abilities. Compensatory driving behaviors can help maintain driving safety. : This study aims to (1) validate a newly developed pedal coordination assessment device reflecting aging effects and (2) examine its potential application by analyzing the relationship between pedal coordination ability, physical and cognitive functions, and driving abilities.

Age-Related Differences in Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Delirium-like Behavior Implicate the Distinct Microglial Composition in the Hippocampus.

As the global population ages, the mechanisms underlying age-related susceptibility to delirium have attracted attention. Given the central role of microglia in the pathogenesis of inflammation-related delirium, we investigated the temporal dynamics of neurobehavioral changes and microglial responses, following lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 200 μg/kg) administration in young and old male C57BL/6 mice. Although a similar illness trajectory across 48 h post-treatment (HPT) was observed in both age groups, old-LPS mice exhibited worsened delirium-like behavior.

27-Hydroxymangiferolic acid (27-HMA) is a naturally occurring compound in mango fruits that exhibits diverse biological functions. Here, we show that 27-HMA activates the transcriptional activity of farnesoid X receptor (FXR), a nuclear receptor transcription factor, extending the lifespan and healthspan in (). Meanwhile, the longevity-promoting effect of 27-HMA was attenuated in the mutants of and the FXR homologs, indicating that the longevity effects of 27-HMA in may depend on nuclear hormone receptors (NHRs).

Purpose: Growth of macular neovascularization (MNV) associated with development of complete retinal pigment epithelial and outer retina atrophy (cRORA) been observed in eyes neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) under effective anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy. We aimed to evaluate the influence of the presence of MNV on the sensitivity of the overlaying retina both in patients with or without cRORA and to generate hypotheses about their association.

Methods: Pilot study on nAMD patients undergoing long-term anti-VEGF therapy that had also undergone microperimetry testing.

Dietary phytoestrogens have been suggested to provide protection against numerous age-related diseases. However, their effects on biological aging remain unclear. In this study, we cross-sectionally investigated the relationship between urinary phytoestrogen levels and indicators of biological aging using data from 7,981 adults who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999-2010.
