Diabetic foot, leg ulcers and decubitus ulcers affect millions of individuals worldwide leading to poor quality of life, pain and in several cases to limb amputations. Despite the global dimension of this clinical problem, limited progress has been made in developing more efficacious wound dressings, the design of which currently focusses on wound protection and control of its exudate volume. The present in vitro study systematically analysed seven types of clinically-available wound dressings made of different biomaterial composition and engineering.

The present study collected wastewater samples from fourteen (14) full-scale wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) at different treatment stages, namely, primary, secondary, and tertiary, to understand the impact of WWTP processes on the bacterial community structure, their role, and their correlation with environmental variables (water quality parameters). The findings showed that the bacterial communities in the primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment stages are more or less similar. They are made up of 42 phyla, 84 classes, 154 orders, 212 families, and 268 genera.

: Owing to the progressive rise in saline waters globally, resulting in detrimental impacts on freshwater aquaculture, the underlying molecular distinctions governing the response to alkaline stress between diploid and triploid crucian carp remain unknown. : This investigation explores the effects of 20 and 60 mmol NaHCO stress over 30 days on the gills of diploid and triploid crucian carp, employing histological, biochemical, and multi-omic analyses. : Findings reveal structural damage to gill lamellas in the examined tissue.
