Introduction: Visuocognitive performance is closely related to expertise in chess and has been scrutinized by several investigations in the last decades. The results indicate that experts' decision-making benefits from the chunking process, perception and visual strategies. Despite numerous studies which link these concepts, most of these investigations have employed common research designs that do not use real chess play, but create artificial laboratory conditions via screen-based chess stimuli and obtrusive stationary eye tracking with or without capturing of decision-making or virtual reality settings.

Lifting-correction is a technique to restore buildings experiencing uneven settlement, while ensuring the safety and integrity of the main structural system. This study was based on a real light-steel building structure and provided a detailed description of scenarios involving uneven settlement and the process of lifting and correction. Additionally, a sophisticated finite element (FE) model was established using the generic FE software ABAQUS, with refined material constitutive models to ensure the accuracy of simulation results.

Klebsiella pneumoniae producing extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL) continues to pose huge therapeutic challenges in the treatment of infections, primarily urinary infections, due to its multidrug resistance to antibiotics. Therefore, there is a need for research on this topic to investigate ways to reduce the spread of antibiotic resistance, identify novel therapeutic approaches to treat these infections and gain a better understanding of the mechanisms of resistance. In this context, this study aimed to analyze the chemical composition of essential oils (EOs) of Thymus algeriensis, Syzygium aromaticum, and Eucalyptus globulus and assess their activity against K.

This paper develops a hybrid experimental/simulation method for the first time to assess the thermal stresses generated during electron beam melting (EBM) at high temperatures. The bending and rupture of trusses supporting Inconel 625 alloy panels at ~1050 °C are experimentally measured for various scanning strategies. The generated thermal stresses and strains are thereafter simulated using the Finite-Element Method (FEM).

Background: As a broad-spectrum drug against chicken coccidiosis, nicarbazine is widely used. The international community has made regulations and requirements on the residue limits of nicarbazine metabolites in chicken. The research reports on the detection methods of nicarbazine residues are mainly based on large-scale instruments such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry-mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) and so on.
