Background: Several epidemiological studies have been carried out using Multiple-Locus Variable-number tandem repeat Analysis (MLVA) for typing. However, a global perspective on the implications of the genetic diversity of this pathogen is lacking.
Objective: This study aimed to determine and to analyze the genetic structure of based on the R1-R3 MLVA typing scheme and to characterize, analyze and compare MLVA types among countries where the information was publicly available.

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), an important pathogen affecting the pig industry, is an RNA virus with high genetic diversity. In this study, 12,299 clinical samples were collected from northern China during 2021-2023 to investigate the molecular epidemiological characteristics and genetic evolution of PRRSV. All samples were screened using qRT-PCR and further analyzed through gene and whole-genome sequencing.

Existing genetic classification systems for porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus type 2 (PRRSV-2), such as restriction fragment length polymorphisms and sub-lineages, are unreliable indicators of close genetic relatedness or lack sufficient resolution for epidemiological monitoring routinely conducted by veterinarians. Here, we outline a fine-scale classification system for PRRSV-2 genetic variants in the United States. Based on >25,000 U.

Balantioides coli is the only ciliated protist of both human and veterinary interest and colonises the large intestine of several hosts, including humans and pigs. Given the scarcity of data on B. coli circulation in pigs in Italy, a study was planned to record its prevalence and genetic types and compare the analytical sensitivity of two copromicroscopic techniques.

The lack of data on the whole-genome analysis of genotype II African swine fever virus (ASFV) isolates significantly hinders our understanding of its molecular evolution, and as a result, the range of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) necessary to describe a more accurate and complete scheme of its circulation. In this regard, this study aimed to identify unique SNPs, conduct phylogenetic analysis, and determine the level of homology of isolates obtained in the period from 2019 to 2022 in the central and eastern regions of Russia. Twenty-one whole-genome sequences of genotype II ASFV isolates were assembled, analyzed, and submitted to GenBank.
