In recent decades, researchers and clinicians have increasingly focused on glial cell function. One of the primary mechanisms influencing these functions is through extracellular vesicles (EVs), membrane-bound particles released by cells that are essential for intercellular communication. EVs can be broadly categorized into four main types based on their size, origin, and biogenesis: large EVs, small EVs (sEVs), autophagic EVs, and apoptotic bodies.

Interleukin-11 (IL-11) is a member of the IL-6 family of cytokines and possesses both pro- and anti-inflammatory properties. IL-11 activates its target cells via binding to a membrane-bound IL-11R and subsequent formation of a homodimer of the signal-transducing receptor gp130. Thus, the expression pattern of the IL-11R determines which cells can be activated by IL-11.

Like other members of the myosin family, its biochemical kinetics are altered in response to changes in mechanical loads that resist the power stroke. However, myo1c is unique in that the primary force-sensitive kinetic transition is the isomerization that follows ATP binding, not ADP release as in other slow myosins.

Polymyxins, critical last-resort antibiotics, impact the distribution of membrane-bound divalent cations in the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. We employed atomistic molecular dynamics simulations to model the effect of displacing these ions. Two polymyxin-sensitive and two polymyxin-resistant models of the outer membrane of were investigated.

As a universal language across the bacterial kingdom, the quorum sensing signal autoinducer-2 (AI-2) can coordinate many bacterial group behaviors. However, unknown AI-2 receptors in bacteria may be more than what has been discovered so far, and there are still many unknown functions for this signal waiting to be explored. Here, we have identified a membrane-bound histidine kinase of the pathogenic bacterium , AsrK, as a receptor that specifically detects AI-2 under low boron conditions.
