Microfibrils about 100 A wide are isolated by mechanical procedures (sieving and ultrasonic disintegration from villosities of human placenta. Amino acid and carbohydrate compositions seem to be related to structural glycoproteins described before in connective tissues.

Evidence-based dose selection of drugs in pregnant women has been lacking because of challenges in studying maternal-fetal pharmacokinetics. Hence, many drugs are administered off-label during pregnancy based on data obtained from nonpregnant women. During pregnancy, drug transporters play an important role in drug disposition along with known gestational age-dependent changes in physiology and drug-metabolizing enzymes.

Sperm competition is found across multicellular organisms using both external and internal fertilization. Sperm competition and post-copulatory cryptic female choice can promote incompatibility between species due to the antagonistic coevolution of the sexes within a species. This between-species incompatibility is accelerated and markedly asymmetrical when sexual mode differs, producing the "weak inbreeder, strong outcrosser" (WISO) pattern.

ISB 1442 is a bispecific biparatopic antibody in clinical development to treat hematological malignancies. It consists of two adjacent anti-CD38 arms targeting non-overlapping epitopes that preferentially drive binding to tumor cells and a low-affinity anti-CD47 arm to enable avidity-induced blocking of proximal CD47 receptors. We previously reported the pharmacology of ISB 1442, designed to reestablish synthetic immunity in CD38+ hematological malignancies.

Background: The rapid mutation of avian influenza virus (AIV) poses a significant threat to both the poultry industry and public health. Herein, we have successfully developed an mRNA-LNPs candidate vaccine for H5 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza and evaluated its immunogenicity and protective efficacy.
Results: In experiments on BALB/c mice, the vaccine candidate elicited strong humoral and a certain cellular immune responses and protected mice from the heterologous AIV challenge.
