Objective: Occipital Nerve Stimulation (ONS) is increasingly used to treat a range of chronic, refractory headache conditions, most notably chronic cluster headache (CCH). Despite this, there is still no consensus on the optimal implantation technique. Clinical reports and reviews in the field have reported remarkably high complication rates of which several can be directly related to the surgical approach.

Electrode/Electrolyte Optimization-Induced Double-Layered Architecture for High-Performance Aqueous Zinc-(Dual) Halogen Batteries.

Nanomicro Lett

November 2024

School of Textiles and Clothing, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Qingdao University, Qingdao, 266071, Shandong, People's Republic of China.

Aqueous zinc-halogen batteries are promising candidates for large-scale energy storage due to their abundant resources, intrinsic safety, and high theoretical capacity. Nevertheless, the uncontrollable zinc dendrite growth and spontaneous shuttle effect of active species have prohibited their practical implementation. Herein, a double-layered protective film based on zinc-ethylenediamine tetramethylene phosphonic acid (ZEA) artificial film and ZnF-rich solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer has been successfully fabricated on the zinc metal anode via electrode/electrolyte synergistic optimization.

Sustaining 500,000 Folding Cycles Through Bioinspired Stress Dispersion Design in Sodium-Ion Batteries.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

October 2024

School of Chemical Science and Engineering, Institute of Advanced Study, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Chemical Assessment and Sustainability, School of Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mechanics Tongji University, Shanghai, 200092, P. R. China.

Developing super-foldable electronic materials and devices presents a significant challenge, as intrinsic conductive materials are unable to achieve numerous true-folding operations (super-foldable) due to limitations from short-range forces of chemical bonds. Consequently, super-foldable batteries remain unexplored. This work focused on sodium-ion batteries as a breakthrough point to advance super-foldable devices.

Article Synopsis
  • High pulse discharge breakage is an emerging technique showing promise in effectively crushing concrete, although its mechanisms need further exploration.
  • A study was conducted with 27 tests examining how different factors (applied voltage, pulse number, and electrode gap) affect the dynamic elastic modulus loss (DEML) of concrete during high voltage pulse discharge (HVPD).
  • Results indicate that increasing the pulse number significantly improves DEML by up to 12.9%, with a maximum DEML of 219.73 ± 9.58 MPa achieved, suggesting a 25.19% enhancement in concrete crushing efficiency.

Helix breakage during left bundle pacing area implantation.

Pacing Clin Electrophysiol

September 2024

Cardiovascular Department, University of Siena, Siena, Italy.

A left bundle pacing stimulation pacemaker was implanted using stylet driver lead. The screw incarceration occurred after positioning of the lead. The screw rupture occurred during lead retraction; the distal portion of the screw remained incarcerated at the interventricular septum.
