Background: Both iodine deficiency and iodine excess can harm the thyroid glands during pregnancy. In areas without iodine fortification, the relationship between the water iodine concentration (WIC) and thyroid disease in pregnant women requires further investigation.
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between water iodine levels and the prevalence of thyroid disease in pregnant women residing in areas with high water iodine levels without access to iodized salt.

Background: Hydatid disease, a parasitic infection caused by the larval form of Echinococcus granulosus, infrequently involves the thyroid gland, whether through direct invasion or hematogenous spread.
Case Presentation: We report the case of a 62-year-old female patient from Morocco who presented with an anterior cervical mass, initially suspected to be a goiter. A histopathological evaluation of the thyroidectomy specimen identified the presence of a hydatid cyst.

Goiter related to excessive iodine nutrition remains a significant public health issue in some countries. There has been no reported study on long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) related to goiters. In this study, goiter was induced by drinking water with excess iodine for 10 or 20 weeks in Kunming mice.

Introduction: With advancements in detection equipment and an increase in the frequency of examinations, thyroid nodules and goiter in children have garnered attention.
Objective: This study aims to determine the effects of high iodine and fluoride exposure on thyroid nodules and goiter in school-aged children.
Methods: We recruited children aged 8 to 12 from rural Jiangsu, China, based on the concentrations of iodine and fluoride in local drinking water and urine.

Iodine is essential for the synthesis of thyroid hormones, which regulate cell metabolism, growth, and development. Although iodine deficiency (ID) causes adverse health effects across the lifespan, it is particularly problematic in pregnancy, when it can lead to irreversible fetal brain damage. A high prevalence of severe ID, manifesting as endemic goiter and cretinism, predated the arrival of European explorers in the Americas.
