Carbamate-containing pesticides, particularly baygon, might alter the activity of monoamine oxidase (MAO) in vivo. Baygon was found to stimulate selectively the deamination of 2-phenylethylamine, which is a specific substrate of MAO of the B type; the stimulating effect of baygon was reversible. Kinetic studies showed that the stimulation of the enzyme in presence of baygon of the competitive type. A selective inhibitor of MAO of the B type deprenyl might prevent the impairments of the central nervous system, which are observed in the baygon intoxication. Estimation of the MAO activity in blood thrombocytes may be used as a new biochemical test in diagnosis of intoxications caused by pesticides.

The local structure plays a crucial role in oxygen redox reactions, which boosts the capacity of layered oxide cathodes for sodium-ion batteries. While studies on local structural ordering have primarily focused on the intra-layer ordering, there has been limited research on the inter-layer stacking for the layered cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries. The genesis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is closely related to male factors and hyper-activated Ras signals. A transcriptomic database was established via RNA-Seq of HCC (T) and the adjacent precancerous liver tissue (P) of Hras12V transgenic mice (Ras-Tg, HCC model) and the normal liver tissue of wild-type mice (W) of both sexes. Comparative analysis within W, P, and T and correlation expression pattern analysis revealed common/unique cluster-enriched items towards HCC between the sexes.

Lymphocyte activation gene 3 (LAG3) is a key receptor involved in the propagation of pathological proteins in Parkinson's disease (PD). This study investigates the role of neuronal LAG3 in mediating the binding, uptake, and propagation of α-synuclein (αSyn) preformed fibrils (PFFs). Using neuronal LAG3 conditional knockout mice and human induced pluripotent stem cells-derived dopaminergic (DA) neurons, we demonstrate that LAG3 expression is critical for pathogenic αSyn propagation.
