The hydrocarbon fraction of the neutral lipids of goats' milk was chromatographically purified and analyzed by gas-liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. The goats' milk samples, which were collected during the spring of the year, represent a cross-sectional analysis; the purified hydrocarbon fraction displays a broad spectrum of compounds. The major components of the hydrocarbon fraction identified for the first time in goats' milk were 3,7,11,15-tetramethylhexadec-2-ene (phytene-2) (1.5%), squalene (approximately 2.5%), and n-C29H60 (4.2%); in addition, a series of odd and even carbon number n-alkanes (C15 to C33), a series of alkenes (C16 to C23), and a series of branched chain hydrocarbons were found. The goats' milk hydrocarbon fraction, in comparison to the known distribution from cows' milk, contains a good deal less squalene and phytene, and is more complex. One human milk hydrocarbon fraction isolated from a longitudinal composite sample from one lactation displays a distribution that appears to be more closely related to that of human skin lipids (1983. J. Lipid Res. 24: 120-130) than to those of goats' and cows' milk.

The hydrogen produced ( ) in the Catalytic Naphtha Reforming (CNR) is important in quantity and quality, for the feedback of the process and for supplying the hydrotreatment processes in current refineries. In this work it is presented a study by process simulation using ® for finding operative transitional modes that simultaneously improve quality of the reformate and hydrogen production of the CNR. The operative conditions that were studied correspond to the recirculation ratio of hydrogen/hydrocarbon ( ), with values between 2 and 6, and the temperature (), between 450 and 525 °C, in order to determining the best operative transitional route from the initial operative state to a local improved state, applying the method of superposition of response surfaces and criteria assessment of improvement in quality and quantity of hydrogen produced.

Doxorubicin (DOXO) has long been used clinically and remains a key drug in cancer therapy. DOXO-induced cardiomyopathy (DICM) is a chronic and fatal complication that severely limits the use of DOXO. However, there are very few therapeutic agents for DICM, and there is an urgent need to identify those that can be used for a larger number of patients.

As the volume of plastic waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) continues to rise, a significant portion is disposed of in the environment, with only a small fraction being recycled. Both disposal and recycling pose unknown health risks that require immediate attention. Existing knowledge of WEEE plastic toxicity is limited and mostly relies on epidemiological data and association studies, with few insights into the underlying toxicity mechanisms.

The small black stem bug, Paratibraca (= Glyphepomis) spinosa (Campos and Grazia 1998), is a rice pest in Brazil and is part of a complex of stink bugs that includes Oebalus poecilus (Dallas) and Tibraca limbativentris Stål. Together, these pentatomid species pose a serious threat to rice crops throughout South America. In this study, we identified the sex pheromone of P.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are carcinogenic compounds resulting from incomplete burning of organic materials. This work describes the successful layer-by-layer fabrication of a novel zinc oxide nanocomposite made of zinc oxide nanoparticles, aniline, sodium dodecyl sulfate, and modified multi-walled carbon nanotubes on a stainless steel wire by electrodeposition. The coating and extraction conditions were screened, optimized, and validated using factorial design and central composite design, respectively.
