The [18F] F-PSMA Probe: Chemical Perspectives.

Curr Med Chem

January 2025

Brazilian Nuclear Energy Commission, Nuclear Engineering Institute, Laboratory of Novel Radiopharmaceuticals and Nanoradiopharmacy, Rio de Janeiro, 21941906, Brazil.

This study discusses the chemical perspectives of the [18F]F-PSMA probe, a pivotal tool in prostate cancer imaging. [18F]Fluorine, a positron emitter with a half-life of 109.8 minutes, is produced in a cyclotron by bombarding [18O]-enriched targets with protons.

2-Fluorobenzofurans underwent efficient nickel-catalyzed coupling with arylboronic acids through the activation of aromatic C-F bonds. This method allowed us to successfully synthesize a range of 2-arylbenzofurans with various substituents. The reaction, which proceeded under mild conditions, involved β-fluorine elimination from nickelacyclopropanes formed by the interaction of 2-fluorobenzofurans with zero-valent nickel species.

Coplanar Dimeric Acceptors with Bathochromic Absorption and Torsion-Free Backbones through Precise Fluorination Enabling Efficient Organic Photovoltaics with 18.63% Efficiency.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

January 2025

Guangdong-Hong Kong Joint Laboratory for Carbon Neutrality, Jiangmen Laboratory of Carbon Science and Technology, Jiangmen, Guangdong, 529199, P. R. China.

Giant dimeric acceptors (GDAs), a sub-type of acceptor materials for organic solar cells (OSCs), have garnered much attention due to the synergistic advantages of their monomeric and polymeric acceptors, forming a well-defined molecular structure with a giant molecular weight for high efficiency and stability. In this study, for the first time, two new GDAs, DYF-V and DY2F-V are designed and synthesized for OSC operation, by connecting one vinylene linker with the mono-/di-fluorinated end group on two Y-series monomers, respectively. After fluorination, both DYF-V and DY2F-V exhibit bathochromic absorption and denser packing modes due to the stronger intramolecular charge transfer effect and torsion-free backbones.

Background: PSMA PET/CT emerges as a pivotal technology in the diagnostic landscape of prostate cancer (PCa). It offers a suite of imaging interpretation criteria, notably the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), the molecular imaging prostate-specific membrane antigen score (miPSMA score), and the PSMA reporting and data system (PSMA-RADS). Identifying the most valuable criteria for diagnosing PCa and standardizing imaging interpretation across various tracers is an unresolved question.

The speciation and thermal transformation characteristics of fluorine and chlorine in industrial wastes.

Environ Technol

January 2025

China State Key Laboratory of Clean Energy Utilization, Institute for Thermal Power Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, People's Republic of China.

The study investigated the chlorine and fluorine contents in three types of industrial solid waste: textile, plastic, and paper waste, utilizing various analytical methods. Significant variations in the proportions of organic and inorganic chlorine were observed among the waste types. During heat treatment, the majority of chlorine converts to a volatile state, with fixed chlorine content showing a correlation with organic chlorine.
