It has been shown that the syndrome has a polymorphic structure, is usually endogenic but does not posses nosological specificity. Cognitive dicturbances due to vital asthenia and a vital change of affectiveness are predominant manifestations which lead to social disadaptation. Early diagnosis and adequate therapy makes it possible in most cases to compensate for the pathological condition in the outpatient setting, preventing thereby social disadaptation. The necessity of inclusion of psychiatric service into the general somatic polyclinic network to provide specialized psychiatric help for such patients is demonstrated.
