Contrary to the tubercle Bacilli (H37Ra, BCG), Mycobacterium phlei has a ribitol-NAD dehydrogenase (that also oxidizes, although to a lesser extent, erythritol and glycerol). This difference is observed with the Bacteria grown on Sauton's medium, as well as after their adaptation to ribitol. The extracts of all these Mycobacteria reduce, NADP in the presence of glycerol, ribitol or erythritol, though very slowly.

This study identified the amino acid sequences of peptides generated from the enzymatic hydrolysis of goat milk proteins from two different sources and annotated their functional activities. Peptidomics and molecular docking approaches were used to investigate the antioxidant and ACE inhibitory properties of the unique peptides, revealing the molecular mechanisms underlying their bioactivity. In vitro experiments showed that the IC50 values for ACE inhibition of the four peptides (LSMTDTR, QEALELIR, NIPVGILR, and QAQNVQHY) were 2.

The tripartite-motif protein 56 (TRIM56) is a RING-type E3 ubiquitin ligase whose functions were recently beginning to be unveiled. While the physiological role(s) of TRIM56 remains unclear, emerging evidence suggests this protein participates in host innate defense mechanisms that guard against viral infections. Interestingly, TRIM56 has been shown to pose a barrier to viruses of distinct families by utilizing its different domains.

We compared the enzymatic, coagulant, and neuromuscular activities of two variants (yellow-CDRy and white-CDRw) of venom with a sample of (CDT) venom and examined their neutralization by antivenom against CDT venom. The venoms were screened for enzymatic and coagulant activities using standard assays, and electrophoretic profiles were compared by SDS-PAGE. Neutralization was assessed by preincubating venoms with crotalic antivenom and assaying the residual activity.

A variety of phytochemicals from different plants are collected by bees into bee pollen granules. This research focused on evaluating the effects of lactic acid fermentation and enzymatic hydrolysis on the antibacterial activity of bee pollen and its interaction with antibiotics. There is limited knowledge regarding the interactions between treated bee pollen extracts and antibiotics, and this study contributes to the field by providing new insights into the antibacterial activity of pollen subjected to eight distinct treatment methods.
