Infection imaging has been challenging over the past four decades, which provided an excellent playing field for researchers working in this area, and till date the quest continues to find an ideal imaging agent. Labelled leukocytes were first developed in the 1970s for imaging infection lesions such as osteomyelitis, cellulitis, diabetic foot, Crohn's disease, inflammatory bowel disease, fever of unknown origin, etc. Subsequently labelled antibiotics such as (99m)Tc-labelled ciprofloxacin have emerged for directly identifying live bacterial infections.

We present the case of a 50-year-old male with lumbosacral epidural abscess as a distant iatrogenic sequella of a post-injection phlegmon of the forearm. The progressive and inconspicuous course of the illness, its complex clinical picture, neurologic manifestation in the form of cauda equina syndrome, and multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment in this patient make this case worthy of particular attention. We decided on a combined therapy consisting of surgery and pathogen-directed antibiotic treatment.

Interpretation of lymphoscintigrams in patients with extremity oedema may be adversely affected by any variation in the acquisition protocol. The purpose of this study was to determine whether delayed (2-24 h post-injection) views provide information incremental to the first 60 min of acquisition. In a 5-year period, 31 patients (10 males, 21 females, mean age 46 years) with extremity oedema or recurrent cellulitis underwent lymphoscintigraphy using 99Tcm-antimony trisulphide colloid (99Tcm-Sb2S3).

The debridement of the wounds from necrotic patches, appearance of pink granulations were noticed after 5-6 sessions of HBO which could be followed by skin plasty. The following 7-14 sessions of HBO resulted in a good take of the transplanted grafts.
