Introduction: Primary sarcoma of the vulva is an extremely rare entity, representing only 1%-3% of all vulvar malignant neoplasms. Among sarcomas, leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is the most prevalent histologic variant. Due to the rarity of LMS, guidelines are lacking and phase III trials have not been carried out, so clinical management is based on local clinical practice and physician experience.

Following an introduction regarding the anatomo-pathological and clinical aspects of verrucous carcinoma of the oral cavity, the authors review several recent reports concerning the prognosis and treatment of this tumour and its possible evolution. This is followed by a wide-ranging discussion of the differing opinions put forward by various researchers regarding the possible role of radiotherapy and in particular the high risk of triggering off latent forms and provoking the differentiated and more aggressive forms of carcinoma. The authors then illustrate their experience of integrated chemo-surgical treatment, excluding radiotherapy, administered over the past six years to patients who were brought to their attention suffering from this form of carcinoma.

A complete review of case series from 1963 to 1990 allows some considerations and conclusions on the clinical management of epithelial ovarian cancer. In the aim of early diagnosis, the ovarian condition must be evaluated also by ultrasound scans, in every woman, at every gynaecological control, and every ovarian or pelvic mass must be carefully examined and removed. Staging is generally recognized as reliable only by surgical pathological evaluation, (SPS) as in post-surgical FIGO staging.

Zinc chloride fixative (as described in fixed-tissue Mohs surgery) is useful as a chemical debridement method for osteomyelitic bone. We describe a case of an 86-year-old female with a 67-year history of an osteomyelitic ulcer of the anterior tibia. Previous attempts at surgical extirpation of the bone followed by immediate or delayed repair by orthopedic and plastic surgery services had eventuated in recurrence of the basic osteomyelitic process.
