Anatomical studies have revealed a prominent role for feedback projections in the primate visual cortex. Theoretical models suggest that these projections support important brain functions, like attention, prediction, and learning. However, these models make different predictions about the relationship between feedback connectivity and neuronal stimulus selectivity.

Background: It has been proposed that more aggressive tumors trigger a stronger inflammatory response than less aggressive types. We hypothesize that systemic immune inflammatory index (SII) is associated with occult nodal disease (OND) in clinically node negative (cN0) patients undergoing lung resection for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Study Design: The study included patients who underwent lung resection with nodal dissection, according to current guidelines, at a single center between 2010-2021 for NSCLC.

Purpose: Smoking cessation interventions for participants in lung cancer screening are essential for increasing the effectiveness of screening to reduce lung cancer mortality. This study aimed to investigate the factors that lead to smoking cessation after lung cancer screening.
Materials And Methods: The Korean National Lung Cancer Screening (KNLCS) Satisfaction Survey was conducted from 2021 to 2022 with 1,000 samples per year among participants in KNLCS targets 30 or more pack-year smokers.

We here explore confinement-induced assembly of whey protein nanofibrils (PNFs) into microscale fibers using microfocused synchrotron X-ray scattering. Solvent evaporation aligns the PNFs into anisotropic fibers, and the process is followed in situ by scattering experiments within a droplet of PNF dispersion. We find an optimal temperature at which the order parameter of the protein fiber is maximized, suggesting that the degree of order results from a balance between the time scales of the forced alignment and the rotational diffusion of the fibrils.

Periodontal disease stands the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. While scaling and root planning is considered the "gold standard" treatment, it is often insufficient in efficiently eliminating anaerobic bacteria from deep periodontal pockets. In this work, an antibiotic-free and photo-curing hyaluronic acid-Janus (H-Janus) antibacterial pack was developed to inhibit the growth and colonization of residual bacteria within the pockets for reducing the recurrence of periodontitis.
