An analysis of a representative epidemiological sample of patients with endogenic psychoses (schizophrenia and MDP) revealed statistical distribution of some parameters of the disease (risk of the development of the disease in relation to age, a number of previous attacks, as well as distribution of patients by the duration of paroxysms and remissions). The authors believe that a collation of the tabulated data with the known mathematical models makes it possible to come to understanding some aspects of the pathogenesis of endogenic psychoses.

In adolescence, psychotic-like experiences (PLE) may indicate potential prodromal symptoms preceding the onset of psychosis. Metabolomic studies have shown promise in providing valuable insights into predicting psychosis with enhanced precision compared to conventional clinical features. This study investigated metabolomic alterations associated with PLE in 76 depressed adolescents aged 14-20 years.

Objective: To search for neurophysiological correlates of the characteristics of the brain functional state in patients with endogenous depression with an ultra-high risk of developing psychosis in comparison with EEG parameters of patients without symptoms of a risk of developing psychosis and patients who have suffered psychotic episode.
Material And Methods: The study included 92 female patients, aged 16-26 years, at the stage of remission, divided into three groups: with depression without symptoms of ultra-high risk of developing psychosis (group 1, =42), with depression and attenuated psychotic symptoms, but without a history of a psychotic episode (group 2, =32) and with depression that developed after experiencing a psychotic episode (group 3, =18). In all patients, pre-treatment multichannel background EEG was recorded with spectral power analysis in narrow frequency sub-bands.

The kappa opioid receptor (KOR) and its endogenous agonist dynorphin have been implicated in multiple psychiatric conditions including psychotic disorders. We tested the hypotheses that kappa expression is elevated and associated with psychotic symptoms in schizophrenia. We measured kappa expression in unmedicated patients with schizophrenia (7 female, 6 male) and matched controls (7 female, 6 male) with positron emission tomography (PET).
