Eversion carotid endarterectomy (CEA) in awake patients is performed using cervical plexus blocks (CPBs) with or without carotid artery sheath infiltration (CASI) under ultrasound guidance. Although adequacy of anesthesia (AoA) guidance monitors nociception/antinociception balance, its impact on intraoperative analgesia quality and perioperative outcomes in awake CEA remains unexplored. Existing literature lacks evidence on whether AoA-guided anesthesia enhances clinical outcomes over standard techniques.

Background: In resource-limited settings, advanced airway management tools like fiberoptic bronchoscopes are often unavailable, creating challenges for managing difficult airways. We present the case of a 25-year-old male with post-burn contractures of the face, neck, and thorax in Nigeria, who had been repeatedly denied surgery due to the high risk of airway management complications. This case highlights how an awake intubation was safely performed using an Airtraq laryngoscope, the only device available, as fiberoptic intubation was not an option.

Background: In the United Kingdom, spay surgery is routinely performed in dogs and cats by general practitioners. Data from a decade ago showed that, despite an increased attentiveness of veterinarians to peri-operative pain compared to the past, analgesia could be further improved.
Objectives: To investigate the current veterinary practice and attitude towards anaesthesia and analgesia for spay surgery in the United Kingdom.

It is primarily characterized by premature ventricular contractions, ventricular tachycardia, and ventricular fibrillation. Abnormal formation or transmission of cardiac electrical impulses in patients affects cardiac ejection function.
