Objective: The present investigation was designed to devise a rapid and straightforward technique for the isolation of rat precartilaginous stem cells (PCSCs) that eschews the use of immunomagnetic bead sorting.
Method: Rat neonates within 24 h of birth were selected for this study. Microsurgical techniques were used to harvest the femur, tibia, and the musculature of the knee joint.

Objective: To compare bone volume and height changes of two types of deproteinized bovine bone mineral (DBBM) for lateral window sinus floor elevation (LSFE) with simultaneous implant placement.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective cohort study involved 72 patients who underwent LSFE using low-temperature sintered cancellous bone-derived DBBM (C-DBBM) or high-temperature two-step sintered epiphyseal-derived DBBM (E-DBBM). Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) was acquired preoperatively, immediately postoperatively, 6 months and 1-4 years post-surgery.

Mechanical loading enhances bone strength and counteracts arthritis-induced inflammation-mediated bone loss in female mice. It is unknown whether nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs; eg, COX-2 inhibitors) can reduce inflammation without affecting the loading-associated bone formation in male mice. The aim of this study was to investigate if loading combined with a COX-2 inhibitor (NS-398) could prevent arthritis-induced bone loss and inflammation in male mice.

Recent advances on the development of bumped kinase inhibitors for treatment of cryptosporidiosis have focused on the 5-aminopyrazole-4-carboxamide scaffold, due to analogs that have less hERG inhibition, superior efficacy, and strong safety profiles. Three compounds, BKI-1770, -1841, and -1708, showed strong efficacy in C. parvum infected mice.

In this work, we investigated cases of birth of calves with congenital defects in a farm in Southern Brazil. Only calves born from heifers were affected, and the disease occurred in both crossbred and purebred calves. Three necropsies were performed, tissues were collected for histopathology, and samples of liver of calves, blood serum, and food provided for cows and heifers were collected to quantify the levels of the minerals: manganese, copper, and zinc.
