Acquired subglottic stenosis is a common complication of endotracheal intubation in infants. The risk increases in trisomy 21, patients undergoing bypass surgery, and having gastroesophageal reflux disease. Less invasive endoscopic balloon dilatation of subglottic stenosis has become a more common treatment modality compared to open surgical technique.

Morquio syndrome is a subtype of mucopolysaccharidoses, wherein the accumulation of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in various organ systems lead to alteration of anatomy and physiology. Most prominent features are extensive bony abnormalities, which normally require surgical correction. This paper reports the case of a 7-year-old child with Morquio syndrome who successfully underwent correction of genu valgum under general endotracheal anesthesia via asleep induction and videolaryngoscopy, with supplemental peripheral nerve block.

Background: Transient acquisition of methicillin-resistant (MRSA) on healthcare personnel (HCP) gloves and gowns following patient care has been examined. However, the potential for transmission to the subsequent patient has not been studied. We explored the frequency of MRSA transmission from patient to HCP, and then in separate encounters from contaminated HCP gloves and gowns to a subsequent simulated patient as well as the factors associated with these 2 transmission pathways.
