Impact of hemoadsorption with CytoSorb® on meropenem and piperacillin exposure in critically ill patients in a post-CKRT setup: a single-center, retrospective data analysis.

Intensive Care Med Exp

January 2025

Freie Universität Berlin and Humboldt-Universität Zu Berlin, Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Campus Benjamin Franklin, Berlin, Germany.

Purpose: CytoSorb® (CS) adsorbent is a hemoadsorption filter for extracorporeal blood purification often integrated into continuous kidney replacement therapy (CKRT). It is primarily used in critically ill patients with sepsis and related conditions, including cytokine storms and systemic inflammatory responses. Up to now, there is no evidence nor recommendation for the use of CS filters in sepsis (22).

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic was associated with increased psychological distress and psychiatric service usage in Australia. Previous research into the first few months of the pandemic found severe inequality in telehealth psychiatry but no change in inequality for psychiatry service usage overall. However, it is unknown how inequality evolved over the remainder of the pandemic, as extended lockdowns continued in major Australian cities.

Circulating Tumor DNA Detection for Recurrence Monitoring of Stage I Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Treated With Microwave Ablation.

Thorac Cancer

January 2025

Department of Minimally Invasive Tumor Therapies Center, Beijing Hospital, National Center of Gerontology, Institute of Geriatric Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing, China.

Purpose: As microwave ablation continues to be used in patients with inoperable stage I non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), it is particularly important to monitor efficacy. Whether plasma ctDNA detection can predict its efficacy should be illustrated.

Methods: We recruited 43 patients with inoperative stage I NSCLC, all of whom underwent biopsy-synchronous microwave ablation (MWA).

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to examine the extent to which adults with diabetes engage in self-management practices to lower their blood glucose levels and determine factors associated with these engagements.

Methods: The study analyzed data from the 2017-2020 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). The sample included 1171 adults ages 20 and older with a laboratory A1C level of 6.

Serving as a dedicated process analytical technology (PAT) tool for biomass monitoring and control, the capacitance probe, or dielectric spectroscopy, is showing great potential in robust pharmaceutical manufacturing, especially with the growing interest in integrated continuous bioprocessing. Despite its potential, challenges still exist in terms of its accuracy and applicability, particularly when it is used to monitor cells during stationary and decline phases. In this study, data pre-processing methods were first evaluated through cross-validation, where the first-order derivative emerged as the most effective method to diminish variability in prediction accuracy across different training datasets.
