Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) is traditionally described as chronic peripheral eosinophilia with involvement of various organs and systems, including the heart and nervous system. In this report, we describe cardiac involvement and border zone stroke in a patient with idiopathic HES. A 37-year-old woman presented with sudden right-sided weakness and slurred speech, which began four days before admission, accompanied by palpitations, retrosternal exertional chest discomfort, dry cough, and progressive shortness of breath over approximately two months.

This study describes the congenital goiter in an alpaca (Vicugna pacos) fetus aborted in November 2021 with the clinical and pathological findings in the dam that was found dead on the farm three weeks after a miscarriage. The dam was a black coat alpaca bred in the Netherlands, imported in Italy in January 2021, and housed in a farm of central Italy for breeding purposes. Signalment and clinical data on dam and fetus were collected from the farmer and referring veterinarian.

A novel herpesvirus in blue penguins putatively associated with myocardial degeneration and necrosis.

We identified a novel herpesvirus in 2 deceased captive blue penguins (). Moderate-to-severe myocardiocyte atrophy and necrosis, and eosinophilic intranuclear inclusion bodies (INIBs), were seen in myocardiocytes in one bird; reticuloendothelial (RE) cell INIBs and multifocal RE cell necrosis were seen in both birds. The histologic findings were suggestive of viral infection.

During routine veterinary inspection of fish from fishing boats, fish auction yards, and fish landing stations, as well as the large fish market for detection of fish diseases, abnormalities and/or overgrowth in body surfaces and evaluation of hygienic conditions and fish quality at El-Jubail Province, Saudi Arabia., external neoplastic overgrowths were observed in two fish species, giant sea catfish (Arius thalassinus) and Delagoa threadfin bream (Nemipterus bipunctatu). In both fishes, the neoplasms appeared as bony masses, and it was hard in its consistency.
