Gas-producing infections, such as clostridial and nonclostridial gas gangrene, crepitant cellulitis, and necrotizing fasciitis, are characterized in the literature by a variety of initial presentations, microbial burdens and surgical outcomes-ranging from debridement to amputation to death. The primary aim of this study was to identify the organisms cultured in gas-producing infections of the foot in patients that presented to a large academic medical center over a 10-year period. Our secondary aims were to report the prevalence of sepsis in this population upon presentation, and patient outcomes upon discharge.

Purpose: The Pillar Palatal Implant System is a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea and snoring. Prior studies have examined the effectiveness of this procedure, however no prior study has thoroughly evaluated its complications. We anticipate that this analysis will provide valuable insight into these procedures which can be used in patient education and post-operative follow-up.

Background: Fournier's gangrene is an acute surgical emergency characterized by high mortality rates ranging from approximately 13% to 45%. Therefore, aggressive multidisciplinary management is necessary.
Case Presentation: A 29-year-old Asian man who had undergone surgical debridement at another hospital to treat a perianal abscess 5 days earlier was admitted to our hospital for severe scrotal and perianal pain, swelling, and high fever.
CASE DESCRIPTION A 1-year-old reticulated python (Python reticulatus) was evaluated because of a 2-week history of wheezing and hissing. CLINICAL FINDINGS Rostral facial cellulitis and deep gingival pockets associated with missing rostral maxillary teeth were evident. Tissues of the nares were swollen, resulting in an audible wheeze during respiration.
