Oral melanocytic nevi (OMN) are rare benign tumors originating from melanocytes with an unclear pathogenesis. The current theory suggests that OMN originate from dormant dendritic melanocytes that become enclosed in the dermis during the embryonic migration of melanoblasts - the precursors of melanocytes - from the neural crest to the epidermis. OMN can be congenital or acquired, with acquired nevi being more common.

Therapeutic regimens against infection without proton pump inhibitors in patients with corpus atrophic gastritis: a real-life single-centre longitudinal observational study.

Therap Adv Gastroenterol

January 2025

Digestive Disease Unit, Department of Medical-Surgical Sciences and Translational Medicine, Sant'Andrea Teaching Hospital, Sapienza University of Rome, via di Grottarossa 1035, Rome 00189, Italy.

Background: Efficacy of eradication regimens in (Hp) infection is commonly reported with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). In patients with corpus atrophic gastritis, characterized by impaired acid secretion, PPI treatment is questionable.

Objectives: The current study aimed to assess in clinical practice the tolerability and eradication rate of modified eradication regimens without PPI as first-line treatment in patients with histologically Hp-positive corpus atrophic gastritis.

Objective: Carotid body tumors (CBTs) are rare neoplasms of the paraganglia at the carotid bifurcation. While typically benign, CBTs occasionally exhibit malignancy, metastasizing to nearby lymph nodes. Histopathologic analysis alone is insufficient to confirm malignancy, requiring metastases to non-neuroendocrine tissue for a definitive diagnosis.

Protective Effect of Rosmarinic Acid on Endotoxin-Induced Neuronal Damage Through Modulating GRP78/PERK/MANF Pathway.

Drug Des Devel Ther

January 2025

Department of Pharmacology, West China School of Basic Medical Sciences & Forensic Medicine, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan, 610041, People's Republic of China.

Objective: Neuronal damage is criminal to cognitive dysfunction, closely related to endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS). However, due to the pathogenesis of endotoxin-induced long-term cognitive dysfunction is not fully clarified, there is still a lack of effective treatment. This study was conducted to explore the protective effects and mechanism of rosmarinic acid (RA) against ERS in endotoxin-induced cognitive dysfunction in mice and neuronal injury in cells.

Radiomic signatures of brain metastases on MRI: utility in predicting pathological subtypes of lung cancer.

Transl Cancer Res

December 2024

Department of Radiology, Shanghai Chest Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, School of Medicine, Shanghai, China.

Background: The pathological sub-classification of lung cancer is crucial in diagnosis, treatment and prognosis for patients. Quick and timely identification of pathological subtypes from imaging examinations rather than histological tests could help guiding therapeutic strategies. The aim of the study is to construct a non-invasive radiomics-based model for predicting the subtypes of lung cancer on brain metastases (BMs) from multiple magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequences.
